I’m an Assistant Professor in the School of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. I teach courses and conduct research on race, feminism, digital cultures, and storytelling. I believe the way stories are told, produced, and disseminated can bring about justice. I’ve published research on hashtag feminism and activism, and produced interactive media projects, including Brackish, a documentary about hurricane Katrina. I’m also a hashtag historian. I’m currently working on The Hashtag Project, an integrated index platform and storytelling project that tracks hashtags about activism, politics, and culture. For more about my work, including publications and professional experience, see my CV.
